Over the last few days we have had our August bank holiday weekend events at Donington Park, Croft and Knockhill. Both Croft and Knockhill are only visited once a year by BaT so it is a real treat to travel to these excellent northern circuits.
Saturdays track day at Donington went well with the circuit managing to escape most of the showers that were hitting the Midlands. All went to plan with the day and only a few minor stoppages halted proceedings.
As it was my birthday weekend rather than the usual night in a Travelodge we treated ourselves and the Abrahamsons (Garrick & Jo) to a night at Clow Beck House. For those of you visiting Croft this family run hotel in converted farm buildings is a real treat. Their restaurant provides an excellent selection of meals all cooked with locally sourced produce.
The next day at Croft it felt as if Autumn had arrived already as we arrived at a windy but dry circuit. As the day progressed things brightened up and an excellent day was had by all. With only two short stoppages due to mechanical breakdowns all drivers enjoyed quality track time. Our arrive and drive Caterhams were extremely popular with all ten cars out on hire.
Our next stop was Knockhill and the scenery on the drive up makes the long journey worthwhile. Similar to the rest of the track days the day was mainly dry and there were only a few short stoppages. Knockhill will be hosting the next BTCC round this weekend and a number of drivers in support series were using the day as practice for the weekend. Again the circuit was a real hit with all attendees who enjoyed the twisty layout with elevation.
Overall, the three days was a great success and it was lovely to see a mixture of regulars and newcomers to BaT.
An Ariel Atom driving over the start/finish line at Donington Park, BaT regulars John Arnold and Colin Watson driving their Juno at Croft and Giles & Linzi Roadnight at Knockhill who attended all three track days!
