BaT are delighted to announce that BTCC racer, ITV presenter and all-round top-bloke Paul O'Neill will be joining BaTSport to race in the BookaTrack.com Caterham Superlight R300 Championship for the remainder of the 2012 season. When BaT began the search for a driver to lead the team, raise awareness of the arrive & drive rentals and help with data analysis Paul was our number one candidate - but with his busy BTCC and private coaching schedule we never thought in a million years we'd be able to get him on board. Hot off the back of his first run in an NGTC Toyota Avensis driving for Speedworks Motorsport at the Croft BTCC round, a chance conversation with Speedworks bosses and part-time BaT staffers Christian and Amy Dick led us to pursue Paul further. It is safe to say we couldn't be happier at his decision to race with us. Pauls first drive of an R300 will be at the BaT track day at Rockingham next week, ahead of the test day at the Nurburgring GP circuit later this month where he will compete in the Caterham. Paul last raced a Caterham in 2009, when he was invited by Caterham to race their demonstrator R300 in the inaugural championship. Those who know him will have no trouble understanding why BaT were so keen to get 32 year old in the team. His electric personality, wicked sense of humour, hard-work and commitment to motorsport is respected by many both in and out of motorsport. Keep an eye on the BaT Facebook and Twitter pages for updates from the Nurburgring and future R300 races.
