Donington Park Sat 5 March 2011

A cold, wet and very VERY slippy day which once again highlighted how useless the weather forecasters can be.

With the promise of a cloudy but dry day, no-one was expecting the misty rain that started mid-morning and continued relentlessly all day. The circuit never got wet enough to justify using full race wet tyres, but instead remained treacherously greasy, with a fair few spinners throughout the day. Thankfully, most of them managed to remain on the tarmac and despite the difficult circumstances, there were only 4 red flags all day with the gravel trap at the Old Hairpin claiming all but 1 of the victims.

A perfect day to get to grips with the car moving around underneath you and thankfully no damage sustained - a real testament to the high level of respect the drivers had for the tricky conditions.

In the BaT Pics below, we see Paul Brannan taking an unconventional line round Coppice and a couple of chaps discussing the best way to get gravel out of the chassis rails of a Caterham Seven.
