Circuit History
Like many race circuits Castle Combe started its life as a World War II airfield. The Circuit opened in 1950 and has enjoyed a colourful history with many famous motorsport celebrities boasting victory there. However, the circuit hit troubled times in the 1960's and 1970's, falling into great disrepair. It was at this point that the current owners took over and successfully restored the circuits excellent reputation. Controversial changes took place in 1999 to the circuit layout and the circuit was resurfaced. Castle Combe circuit celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, highlighting its success as a challenging, well located race circuit with excellent facilities.
