Great place to learn how to go round the twisties without having to worry about hitting anything if (and when) you spin. Surface is quite abrasive though, so expensive on tyres Sadly now defunct, and sorely missed

Would have been great if it hadn't been for those bleedin' numpty neighbours. Good airfield site with one or two locations for gooning. Would like to have tried it in the wet though.

Excellent airfield, drives more like a circuit. Plenty of run-off. Staircase section is great fun for the smaller and more nimble cars.

23/3/02 As this was my first ever outing I arrived with a little trepidation, especially when I saw the assembled autos. However, what a good day it was and a great bunch of drivers too. I never felt out of place in my big red machine and learned a lot. I would recommend this to any novice "wannabe" racer as this is a great way to let it rip in a safe friendly environment. Oh, and get Hyla to take you out if it is your first time, I got so much from his tuition. I will return!!!

Now in it's 4th iteration since I started going there, the new layout reverts to using the runways for 2/3rds of the circuit, giving a good balance between decent enough straights and coned obstacles. The last 1/3rd of the circuit consists of a long series of S-bends which tighten up, so it rewards the patient. Ideal for beginners even in the wet, there's still enough to be learnt for those slightly more advanced. You can have a lot of fun on this track. If I have one minor gripe, then it's the painted markings on the circuit, there's a couple of large painted areas mid-corner which could catch people a bit off-guard on a rainy day. For some reason people still think of Bentwaters as having a lot of loose dirt/grit/stones, but for the past year, they've done a tremendous job of sweeping all of their layouts (including this one).

Bentwaters Park was great because it was a mix of completely different corners. Some of them seemed as though they only had one realistic line, but a bit more thought managed to carry much more speed through. Getting stuck behind people showers you with stones/chips and it doesn't help if they aren't polite and don't move over! Not very complex but good fun because of the freedom.

Not too many problems with grit/stones on the track, but you can see it might have been a problem in the past. Just watch your following distances if the guy in front is off the line. But this is really only in one or two parts of the circuit. Configuration for 27-Jan-2002 was good and varied, with nice challenging S combinations and chicanes. Not as fast as you might think for an airfield - max 80-90mph between chicanes, but this helps spare your car a bit. Mixture of dry and wet track. Dry eats tires. Be prepared for a new set if you push hard. Wet was better for my liking. Cool venue, and marshals were good and relaxed. Open pit with 25+ cars made all the difference too.

Can't beat it as an airfield venu, it's the best one I've been to and it's got a nice Cafe as well. More like a track now, but still lots of runoff. :) Current layout is the best yet, and it is now grit free. Excellent marshalls BTW.

Good venue with plenty of room and reasonable surface. Layout when I was there was a good mix that included complex slow/medium stuff which my Westie was suited for.

The BAT team struck gold with this venue, as it has become probably the most frequently re-visited Airfield site in the BAT history. Massive popularity and virtually endless combinations of track shapes and lengths available.. you cant guarantee that the next time you visit, the track wont have been bettered yet again. Its one of those venues where lessons are learned from the previous date... and the BAT team makes ammends... just about always to the benefit of the customers safety and the grin the day leaves you with. I'm regulary seen there either in a marshalling role, or just plain gooning around the track.

Wow.. fantastic airfield. Layout recently changed to make it another mile longer. Great combo of ultra fast straights and slow hairpins. Use of a roadsweeper the day before means minimal gravel on the runway. It's more of a circuit than an airfield with distinct lines and minimal coneage

My first venture onto atrack so can't compare to anywhere else. YET! Having said that, it was an excellent day and a fantastic track layout. With really demanding slow speed chicanes and nice high speed corners. The track is very wide with almost limitless run off areas. Which I made good use of. Some cars had serious tyre wear. But the main downside is the grit and the pebbles flying around. I had the sides of the car stripped of paint. Expensive. Yes. But the fact remains that I learnt a lot and had a fatastic time. Definately recommend it.

Good facilities - especially the cafe, shame it's not right next to the track. The track layout is the best airfield layout I've seen. Only downsides are the location and the surface which has lots of small stones.

Excellent run off areas which give you the chance to use the full extent ( and more ) of your car with little chance of hitting anything. My car used a FULL set of rear tyres on the day, so put plenty in the budget. The way the circuit was laid out allowed for little high speed motoring but lots of challening corners, both slow and fast. The downside, and for a TVR it's an expensive downside, is the stone chips. I cracked a windscreen, 2 front fogs and will need a full respray on the front nose-cone. But the grin factor sort of makes up for it ( well nearly )!

Circuit layout for 27th Jan was absolutely superb, though lack of martial interaction when drivers didn't follow the stated procedures was a bit disconcerting.

For a first time track driver this offered an excellent, safe environment in which to experiment with the car and the drivers limits. The track is very wide, albeit slightly 'gritty' but the shear width allows some very exciting slides, spins and screeches. A thoroughly enjoyable day out despite the distance from home. The marshalling was excellent and even the sheep were mostly well behaved! All except one.....Tip: Don't honk at the sheep if they are in the middle of the track, they do live there after all!

Thorough enjoyment and a perminant grin, just a couple of things while I was at the first one of these. Well organised, friendly people, top notch. By the way, when are the sheep going ?

This is an excellent airfield venue especially for the novice. Loads of room, nice flat tarmac/concrete surface and a reasonable lap length makes for good uncrowded sessions. The layout is basically a narrow oval with cones on one of the long straights to provide some extra corners for interest. The long sweeping 180 degree bends at each end of the oval can be quite entertaining as the surface change from concrete to tarmac or vice versa as you move from runway to taxiway offers differing levels of grip. There's also usually a "hooligan" area set aside away from the main track where you can go and have a play. On the downside, unless you are going to be incredibly desciplined and sensible or it is wet, budget for a new set of tyres. There are no toilets by the track, but plenty of bushes (though they can be a bit prickly and just when you think you're hidden away you realise there are people in the offices). The nearest petrol station is 6 miles away so fill up before you arrive. And if you ARE driving madly enough that you start parting company with the black stuff and heading towards the grass, be aware that the runway lights are the size of large dinner plates and they are set up out of the ground at about axel height.

Huge airfield with so much room and nothing to hit for miles (now that the sheep have gone). Great starting point for trackdays. Don't like the 440 mile round trip though, so it's definitely one for the summer.

Good airfield with plenty of space to mess arround. The 'track' could be cleaner, theres quiet a bit of debris out there...

A great place to learn the limits of your car and yourself. Loads of runoff and the surface isn't as abrasive as Kemble. The only things I can level against the place is the odd woolley chicane, the debris on the track (though this might have been sorted by now) and the fact that it's too bloody far away!

Attended my first BOOKATRACK event at Bentwaters yesterday 27/10/01. Good venue with slightly differnt circuit layouts A.M./P.M. Main runway section (P.M.) offline, fine gravel chippings. Good variety of bends with varying levels of grip. Overall good day and an excellent venue to safely explore the limits of your car. Very good site cafe and clean loo's! Finally, decent bunch of enthusiasts and freindly/informative organisers.

Totaly fantastic day with the Honda-R club. Everyone was made to feel really welcome and the facilities were great. No sign of the grit and dirt on the track that other people have written about in the past. A good layout which seemed to suit big, small, FWD and RWD drive cars about equaly. Every person I spoke to enjoyed the day to the last drop and can't wait to do it all again.

Very good venue. Very easy to go fast through the final chicane and end up overcooking the corner at the start of the next lap. Good job there is loads of run off. Only down side is the amound of grit in the pit area, at least none of it is on the track area. I will definately be back to this one. I found it very rewarding, and will probably be having tuition next time so I can enjoy it even more :)

Grit-free for summer 2001! An excellent mix of circuit/airfield type layout, with more peri-road and less coneage. There are some technical bits and show-boat bits. Good run-off. No noise worries to speak of. Oh, and superb marshals.

My first time back since the e***track days of last summer - and what a difference! The track layout is infinitely better, resembling a proper curcuit, albeit a fairly short one. It was also very clean although the pits remind you of how things used to be! Access to a club house with food and toilets is another improvement. The marshelling seemed better too - I didn't once come across a spinning car without a yellow flag being waved. People were also sticking to the overtaking rules all the time - well nearly! The best thing about the day (apart from the weather) was the availability of instruction. I learnt a huge amount from my one session, but more importantly had a lot more fun afterwards. The feeling when you first nail a corner just right and arrive at the next hairpin 5mph faster than all the rest of the day is fantastic. There was no hooligan area which is doubtless safer, but a bit of a shame as I was dying to catch up on my donut practice. Oh well, there's always the car park at work...

Good day out, I seemed to be upgraded on the day from my nominated novice catergory to the rather more scary intermediate, but the car approved and I had to up my game fairly rapidly to accommodate. It was nice to have such a mix of cars. The only strange thing being the TVR race car that appeared in the afternoon and seemed to be given carte blanche to join in any session at will, presumably quite alarming for the girl in the Mx5 on her learning curve! Generally though the circuit was great and the Book a Track crew ran the event well. Recommended.
