Paddock Hill Bend is truly great. The rest initially seems just fine, however the more I drive there the more I discover it's uniqueness.

Richard IvesVuaxhall Astra Coupe Turbo Edition (195 bhp)17:41 Wed 17 Dec 03

I went on a day that was changed to an "Open Pit Lane" and had an excellent time. I previously thought that my Astra Coupe Turbo would be left standing by the more nimble and lighter Seven's, but this was to prove mis guided. The day was managed well by both BookATrack and the Brands Hatch Marshalls. With regards the circuit, Paddock is by far the most exciting time I have had in the car, The approach (110 mph) is daunting as the Brake marker passes you, braking and dropping down a gear to 3rd in 50 yards reduces the speed to about 85 mph for the entrance and then all of a sudden teh corner is visible and the apex is upon you, speed has been scrubbed down to about 75mph at the apex at which point you bury the accelerator and feather out to left hand side of the dip. Your arse is pushed firmly into the seat as you get up to 90 mph and relief is brief before the bridge and braking for Druids. An excellent corner which improves as you go faster and faster through it. Graham Hill bend eluded me all day, in that an perfect entry is required to get maximum benefit from the straight that follows. Clearways was basically sideways all day as the "Electronic Stability Programme" was controlling our exit most of the time. We talked all through lunch about how the tyre walls were being so agressively worn and put it down to the road wieght of the car and the suspension, so there is something to buy to improve Track days. The afternoon bought mixed emotions at 3:30pm one of us, not myself the owner, drove the car off Druids and into the tyre wall. Damage was big and the bill will be too. A lesson to all thinking about going on Track Days, don't let anyone else drive your car. And also make sure that the insurance you get covers ALL eventualities however remotely possible they seem. I will be returning to Track Days later in the Spring or Early Summer, and my first choice of track will Brands Hatch Indy.

Just did a day at Brands Hatch (Indy) with a rival trackday organiser... and I am putting this review here because I had not realised what a difference Jonny and his crew at BaT can make. Nothing actually WRONG with the event - it was just that my experience of BaT events has a certain enthusiasm, a feeling of bonhomie and community, that was entirely missing from this "other" firm. Oh - the circuit? It was a dream come true for me - I have wanted to drive this circuit since I was 6. BUT - in a Cooper S, I'd go so far as to say there is really no point. 4 gear changes per lap are not enough to stimulate the senses, and whilst the three important corners are technically challenging, they're not THAT difficult to get right unless you are looking for lap records. If you're going to come here, have a car that makes it worthwhile - something light, fast and with a very close ratio gearbox. The Superlights and the R500's had a great time, as did the upper-HP'd Elises. I'm not in a hurry to go back - my next event will be Hethel or Cadwell and will DEFINITELY be with Bookatrack.

Basically if you drive the indy circuit youve been robbed of one of the best tracks in the country. Pay extra and do the Grand prix circuit it is such a ball! Indy circuit rated 2 GP circuit 5!!!

I quite like driving this circuit - Paddock is a rush, the elevation changes up into Druids make it better than most slow corners, and Clearways is a long corner that drums home the fact that exit speed is all important... HOWEVER - the circuit is short with only one straight that people seem to treat as such, plus a lot of cars are allowed on track. As such it is busy on track days and you can get stuck behind successive slower cars for whole laps and not really enjoy it. Now the GP track is a real blast!

Home of my famous 360 spin (see www.tgracing.btinternet.co.uk). My first race ever was here amongst senior racers in the wet. Pooed my pants, but loved every minute. Paddock is, rightfully, legendary.

Short, flowing circuit which is good because the only really interesting corner is Paddock Hill Bend. Until you drive it you just don't realise how steep it is. The best corner I have ever driven - requires you to be perfectly balanced on entry and 100% committed on exit due to the steep uphill drag to Druids. Its amazing how quickly you can get the power on as you bury the car in the dip. The S bend before Clearways is also pretty good and gives your chassis setup a real workout. Clearways itself is very tricky and vital to a fast lap. Will go back time and time again just for Paddock. GP circuit rates a 5, but you have to be committed out the back to get the best out of it - the run from Hawthorn to Westfield to Dingle Dell is brilliant, and you can carry more speed through Clearways :-)

This is overall a good track but it always seems too busy! Paddock hill bend is great though and the rest of the corners are challening, watch the kerbs though as they are quite vicious! See www.xr4x4.co.uk for more details

Drove in a mixture of dry and wet/soaking conditions. The first few laps through Paddock Hill are phenomenal - breaking from 120mph to around 70mph for the corner, lunging down into the dip, and then caning it uphill, hitting the rev limiter in third, before hitting the brakes for the 90 degree Druids. So easy to overcook it here in the wet, but gravel traps do their job. Great circuit if you are videoing from the sidelines.

I made the mistake of thinking that being familiar with a circuit as a spectator, playing playstation games and being aware of the general shape would make Brands an easy cicuit. I was wrong. Very technical. Abit daunting in the very wet. Yet I can't wait to go back! Highlight of the day was witnessing Maurice Reeves' MK2 Golf put in some silly quick laps!

A great place to take friends along as you can nearly see the whole of the track. From a drivers point of view, paddock is excellent. and clearways takes ages to master to get completly right, im still learning now..
