 | BaT Instructors |
At BookaTrack.com Ltd - we use only the best ARDS instructors available. Over the years we have formed a core of instructors who cover all of our track days between them, ensuring consistency of quality and continuity for our regular customers.
Anyone more serious about improving their driving should consider a more structured approach to coaching. Everyone can benefit from tuition - even the F1 drivers have personal coaches - and working with the same instructor time and time again can massively increase confidence, consistency and of course, speed.
If you want more information about either exclusive use of one of our instructors, or shared use with a friend, please contact us for a price and availability.
A 20 minute session can be booked via the track day booking form and for just £30 this offers a quick fix for anyone new to track days, new to a particular circuit or just wanting a refresher. Many of our clients choose to take 2 sessions (one AM and one PM) to maximise the benefit, but we also offer half-day and full-day tuition.
We are so confident in our instructors ability to get you round the circuit quicker, smoother and safer, that we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you do not feel you have learned anything from our instructor - just let us know and get a full £30 refund.

Jon-Paul Ivey
Jon-Paul (JP) started racing in 1993 after attending a Jim Russell course at Donington Park, in a racing Modified MG Midget. During this time he had a great amount of success with many wins and class wins. In 2003 he decided it was time for a change and bought a Radical Clubsport, which he raced in until 2006. After this he bought a Prosport which he has loved racing and had his first race win with in 2007. JP has also raced a replica D type Jaguar, MG ZR during his racing career.
JP has held his ARDS Grade A licence for over eight years and has worked at most of the UK circuit including Silverstone, Donington Park and Rockingham. He has also had a great deal of experience working for manufacturers and on corporate and gift experience events.
When it comes to instructing JP prefers sports and saloon cars, but is more than happy in Caterhams. His favourtite circuits are Donington Park, Croft and Silverstone GP where he especially enjoys Bridge and Priory corners.
In his spare time JP enjoys listening to dance music and enjoying the odd dance when ‘he’s drunk enough’. He also enjoys watching motor racing on TV and socialising with friends. His main hobby though is racing with which he says he has a ‘love hate relationship with’.

Scott Mansell
Scott had his first kart at 5-years-old and began racing cars by 16. Whist still a teenager, Scott won the EuroBOSS series twice - F3000 and F1 - taking 5 outright lap records at circuits throughout Europe along the way. In 2004 he was nominated for the BRDC's prestigious McLaren Autosport 'Young Driver of the Year' Award, eventually losing out to Force India's Paul di Resta. After testing with Christian Horner's Arden International GP2 team, Scott found it difficult to obtain large amount of funding needed for the following season and so competed in various IRL IndyLights meetings in the USA. Scott now focuses his race driving on the development of ex-F1 machinery and his ambitions to drive at Le Mans.
Whilst coaching Scott maintains a calm and professional approach both in and out of the car, assessing competence and confidence levels quickly and accurately. His instructions are clear and simple yet precise, so drivers will not get overloaded with information. Scott also has a very technical background and enjoys coaching at advanced levels, having the ability to concisely explain how to get the most out of any car.
Whilst the majority of his race experience has been with slicks and wings (F1 and sports prototypes), Scott is also very experienced with Ferrari race cars, Porsches and Caterhams (road and race).

David Da Costa
David is a Grade 'S' ARDS instructor with many *many* many years instructing and racing experience. David was racing back in the days when motor racing was dangerous but sex was safe.. In the past he's helped a few drivers who have gone on to do very well such as Ari Vatanen, Bruno Senna and Marko Asmer to name a few. As well as winning a major British Saloon Car Championship, David has held lap records in both Britain and Europe. He's also a class winner in the European Touring Cars when he raced for Ford.
Davids proudest acheivement is that he's never hit anyone on a circuit accidentally - read into that what you will!
One of Davids most redeeming features is his desire to pass on his experience without being 'superior' or condescending. His favourite circuit is Mallory Park ('because of Gerrards') and least favourite (the word he used was 'scary') is the old road circuit at Brno in Czechoslovakia.
Favourite bands are Iron Butterfly and Its A Beautiful Day. An ex rugby player, David used to scout for Bath rugby and count several international players as friends. David was also a boxing champ as a child and his elder brother was English schools boxing champ and world grand masters judo champ.
He's married to June and has 3 children. His least credible incident is the time he got told off by an RAC steward for mooning on lap of honour at Brands Hatch. I think this tells you enough about this particular old timer!

Opinions Anglesey Circuit (Pre 2006)My opinion is possibly somewhat influenced by the fact I was driving a Superlight instead of the MR2. However, it was a wonderful experience. School requires real commitment and seems to have at least three possible lines through it, Abbots is off camber but seems to have a lot of grip available, Radar is a fantastic blind left/right flick, and the hairpin is of course goontastic.
Good basic facilities at the track - clean toilets and a clubhouse, although no cover in the paddock for working on a car. Other bonus for those who live south and east of the track is that you get to drive the A5 for a couple of hours - one of the best road-driving experiences out there...
