Brands Hatch Indy
Just did a day at Brands Hatch (Indy) with a rival trackday organiser... and I am putting this review here because I had not realised what a difference Jonny and his crew at BaT can make. Nothing actually WRONG with the event - it was just that my experience of BaT events has a certain enthusiasm, a feeling of bonhomie and community, that was entirely missing from this "other" firm. Oh - the circuit? It was a dream come true for me - I have wanted to drive this circuit since I was 6. BUT - in a Cooper S, I'd go so far as to say there is really no point. 4 gear changes per lap are not enough to stimulate the senses, and whilst the three important corners are technically challenging, they're not THAT difficult to get right unless you are looking for lap records. If you're going to come here, have a car that makes it worthwhile - something light, fast and with a very close ratio gearbox. The Superlights and the R500's had a great time, as did the upper-HP'd Elises. I'm not in a hurry to go back - my next event will be Hethel or Cadwell and will DEFINITELY be with Bookatrack.
