e34 M5 Lovely compromise between motorway muncher and track day warrior. Older models are getting cheap to buy, but still expensive to maintain. I was surprised by the amount of understeer available as standard. Strut brace and new suspension have helped! Handles very well for a 2-ton car - just grab it by the scruff of the neck and show it who's boss! (4 stars because of the cost of maintenance)

M5 E39 Nice torquey engine, pulls in 6th from below 30mph, all teh way to 193 !! Benign handling though the nanny controls cut in way too early. Switch 'em off though and it's new tyre time very soon indeed. Yet to do trackday as I'd need to be in a position to visit the tyre shop pretty soon after I'd say!
