Flows beautifully through corners. The way the car instantly presses forward or drops back in response to part-throttle application is a joy. Lack of mass is instantly noticeable when changing direction. With aircon and xenon lamps as standard, does anyone really need more than this for everyday use? | | 08:45 Tue 17 Jun 03 |

Very quick. Sequential gearbox impresses. Would make a practical turn-up-and-drive trackday car if it was road legal | | 08:47 Wed 11 Jun 03 |
| Jonathan Zink | 172 Cup, pocket rocket! loads quicker than standard 172 from factory, fantastic handling from factory 0-60 in 6.5 speaks for it self - the modern 205 gti. Quicker than new civic type r on most tracks and a lot cheaper. Able to keep up with evo's and scooby's on tight tracks like Anglesey and castle combe due to tricky chicanes. Handful in wet though as no ABS! Ols skool hot hatch

Awesomely fast, still looks cool. Easy to get 150bhp with filter and exhaust. Let down by dead steering and a poor driving position but still a great alternative to the standard hot-hatch brigade... | | 14:02 Wed 13 Nov 02 |
| Tom Orton | 172 Clio by far one of the most enjoyable hatches ever.
Power and handling will keep most at bay on the circuit.
Ok so the build is a bit light to say the least but its still a great car.
Now replaced on the number one spot by the Type R civic.
But still worth a go | | 17:36 Fri 22 Feb 02 |
