A friend of mine owns a mk1 Clio Sport 172 and I am a named driver on the insurance, so I hav egot to do quite a few miles in the car. However, yesterday I borrowed the car and did a trackday at Elvington in it! Managed to surprise quite a few people there on the day with this little French rocket and I loved it. The engine is quite flat below 5000rpm, but once the VVT kicks in it really does have som power. Keep it revving and this thing is a very quick car. Not the best handling fwd car I've ever driven, but still very good. Has a tendancy to understeer and unlike my old 106 GTi it won't go sideways round the corners, but I still had a great time.
